Let’s find the best path for you.

Full Path | $3,200

We will take a deep dive into your goals, learn about where you are, and set you up with a guided path for years to come.

To get started, I’ll ask you to fill out an informal questionnaire. This will help me get a sense of where you are today and what’s on your mind. Then, in a series of conversations, we’ll take a close look at everything. Along the way, I’ll offer to-do lists and explanations. This is meant to be a friendly process, and the goal is for you to have a strong plan that you can re-evaluate as things change. We will work at your pace and answer all of your questions.

PATH OUTLINE

The full path is usually done in five 60-minute Zoom meetings where we’ll:

  1. Cover your goals so I can understand what you’re planning for.

  2. Look carefully at money in and out to get a sense of where you are.

  3. Put together an investment plan that feels comfortable and minimizes taxes.

  4. Make sure you are efficiently covered for life insurance, healthcare, and home & auto, as well as walk through all relevant estate planning documents.

  5. Review recommendations and make sure you have everything to finalize tasks.

PATH DETAILS

  • We’ll get to know each other. I’ll want to hear about your goals in life and what you would like most from the financial planning experience. I’ll also ask a bit about your relationship to money. After our meeting, I’ll review your taxes and employee benefits to make sure you are taking advantage of your options.

  • We’ll take a close look at your spending by working through a friendly spreadsheet. This is not about making a budget that you stick to. It’s about taking a close look at your spending from the last 12 months and setting realistic guardrails that you check in on every few months. This process will help you determine if and where you can save more. We’ll also use this time to address any student loans or credit card debt.

  • We’ll make sure you are saving and investing for all of your goals. Most common is saving for retirement, your kids’ education, a home renovation, and that new car. We’ll go through all of your accounts to see how they fit together and come up with a plan that is comfortable, easy to implement, and tax-efficient.

For retirement, we’ll exhaust employee benefits, expand into IRAs if relevant, look at Social Security benefits, and consider other money. I can advise on if and how to rollover old retirement accounts. For your kids’ education, we’ll talk about what this might look like based on your values. Some parents want to go all in on paying for college and graduate school, while others take a different view. We’ll look at various funding options, including the benefits of using 529 funds.

One of the best ways to create wealth is to be invested in the markets. Too many of us end up leaving extra cash in savings. Some of us are not invested for reasons of inertia, while others are distrustful. There is a lot of noise about investing and flashy information, but at the end of the day, it can be fairly simple. I am here to talk through the risks and walk you through the steps. I will advise on minimizing taxes and investing in accordance with your values. I typically focus on a portfolio of low-cost ETFs or mutual funds.

  • We’ll make sure you are managing risk at a good price. We’ll talk about life insurance, and I’ll make sure you are efficiently covered for healthcare, disability, and home & auto. I’ll talk about the key estate planning documents. For a single person or low-key couple, this can be as simple as making a will and updating beneficiaries on accounts. For a couple with a lot going on or people with kids, typical documents include: a durable POA (power of attorney) for financial matters and for healthcare; an advanced medical directive; and a revocable trust to ensure that your kids are cared for in the worst case scenario.

  • I’ll want to check in and encourage you to get through any last tasks. You should have clarity on all aspects of your plan, and we can go through anything else that is on your mind.

Fill in the Gaps | $1,800

This is for people who have a plan and are mostly good on their own but want to check in with a professional.

It makes sense to re-evaluate where you are and where you are going. Relevant laws change over time, and so do our lives—people get married, have kids, buy homes, inherit money, and change careers. It also makes sense to take a close look at spending and investments every two years to make sure you are on track.

PATH OUTLINE

This path is usually done in two 75-minute Zoom meetings with communication along the way to make sure you feel supported in reaching your goals.

  1. Before we meet, I’ll ask you to work on an informal questionnaire to make our time together efficient.

  2. In the first meeting, we'll cover your goals so I can understand what exactly is on your mind.

  3. Before we meet again, I’ll prepare and share some suggestions and a to-do list.

  4. For our second meeting, we'll go through everything together to make sure you have a sense of next steps and how to complete any tasks.

Take an Hour | $350

Many things can come up. Let’s take an hour to talk about what’s on your mind.

This can be about changes in your life, changes in your goals, or even about something you have read or heard. For example, people thinking of changing homes like to discuss the best options for selling (taxes) and buying (financing). Related, people like to brainstorm about financing large home renovations. I’ve had people call to chat through the pros and cons of changing jobs or starting a business. We can do the math on a variety of scenarios, including evaluating employee benefits. Others have called to talk about leasing a nice car versus buying new or used. Just as common, people will set up a meeting to talk about that investment option, insurance product, or grand vacation they heard about from a friend.
